Senor Buscador is off the Kentucky Derby path due to a minor ligament strain, owner Joey Peacock told Bloodhorse.com.
Trainer Todd Fincher said the best plan is rest.
The 3-year-old son of Mineshaft won the Remington Springboard Mile Stakes last fall and is coming off a fifth place in the Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 13. However, Peacock said Senor Buscador was a "little bit off" following a half-mile workout at Sam Houston Race Park last week.
"We could give him a few days off and then try to keep going, but out of an abundance of caution, we are going to stop training and take our time to evaluate his condition," Peacock wrote in an email to Bloodhorse.com. "He's a young horse with a bright future and we are going to do our best to see that he gets the care he needs to sustain a long racing career."
Senor Buscador was 2-for-2 as a juvenile, including winning a maiden race at Remington Park.
"We need to stop him and give him time off because he such a good horse and has a bright future," Fincher told Heritage Sports.
